Every year since 1989, Al-Anon Adult Children in Illinois have hosted a weekend Workshop and Festival to aid in our recovery. It is intended to be a recovery weekend for all Adult Children and the people who love them. This includes all Al-Anon members and anyone else in recovery from the effects of growing up or living in an alcoholic home. Many members of other 12-Step groups such as AA, ACOA, OA, and CODA also find this event helpful to their own programs. Effective recovery is a slow, steady process instead of a sprint. Our theme for 2009 will be "Progress, not Prefection, one step at a time". The focus will be on the basic issues of adult children and how steady, patient, participation in our 12-step program can lead us from pain to serenity in those same areas.
